The best way to identify and eliminate duplicate photos on your phone.
Over the years, I’ve had issues with duplicate photos on my iPhone. Some of it was due to uploading photos from a SD card to my computer, or for a while I was backing up photos to DropBox, not realizing every time I plugged my iPhone in to my computer, it would download all photos to my iPhone.
Even though I’m pretty good about not duplicating when I’m backing up photos, I still get duplicates on my iPhone. Most of the time its due to taking several pictures of the same scene, hoping to get that perfect shot.
I also get duplicates when I’m going through text messages, viewing the images that were sent to me. Since I can’t always remember if I have the photo or not, I usually save the photo when in doubt.
Regardless of how it happens, Duplicate Photo Fixer is a great utility app to eliminate duplicate photos. It works by scanning through your photos, detecting identical or similar looking photos.
This task is cumbersome to do on your own, since many times duplicates were created with a different date. Duplicate Photo Fixer presents the images side by side, so no matter where they exist on your phone, it's easy to detect duplicates.
Here’s how to get started using Duplicate Photo Fixer:
1 - Download the App
2 - Choose the Scanning Option
Choose either Normal, Aggressive or Custom Search. I start with normal search and after removing all duplicates I run an aggressive search which usually finds some photos I don’t consider duplicates.
3 - Review your Photo
Choose the magnifying glass to see a larger version of the photo.
4 - Select the Wand to Rescan or Auto Mark
Choose Rescan to have Duplicate Photo Fixer scan again for duplicates. Auto Mark will select all of the photos it has flagged as duplicates.
5 - Select Trash Can to Delete
When you are done marking duplicates, select the trash can to delete.
6 - Rate the App
Every time you delete a photo you’ll get this annoying message, which unfortunately is unavoidable.
As you can see, Duplicate Photo Fixer is a really easy way to detect and delete duplicate photos. Give it a try!
